Tinubu Appoints Jonah Jang’s Son, Yakubu Jang, as Senior Special Assistant
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Yakubu Jang, son of former Plateau State Governor Senator Jonah David Jang, as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) in the Office of the President.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu at the 80th birthday celebration and public presentation of Jonah Jang’s autobiography in Jos, Plateau State.
Speaking before an audience of political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests, Shettima conveyed the President’s message and formally announced Yakubu Jang’s appointment.
According to the Vice President, the appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to recognising capable individuals, rewarding dedication to national service, and promoting inclusive representation within his administration.
The announcement was warmly received by attendees, drawing applause from political associates, family members, and well-wishers present at the event.
The ceremony attracted an array of prominent personalities, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, serving and former governors, federal and state government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and other notable Nigerians who gathered to celebrate the elder statesman.
The event also marked the unveiling of Jonah Jang’s autobiography, Airman to Politics, which chronicles his remarkable journey from serving as an officer in the Nigerian Air Force to becoming Military Administrator, two-term Governor of Plateau State, and later a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The appointment of Yakubu Jang added another highlight to the celebration, underscoring the significance of the occasion as family, friends, and political associates honoured Jonah Jang’s decades of service to Plateau State and Nigeria.
